Choirs & Music

ADULT CHOIR

The Adult Choir has twenty-eight members – all volunteer – who prepare music appropriate to the season, Psalm of the day done in Anglican chant, weekly anthems, and music sung during communion every Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. service, September through May.
Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:15 – 8:45 p.m. and on Sunday mornings from 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

CHILDREN’S CHOIRS

* St. Francis Choir for boys and girls in grades K – 2
* St. Cecilia Choir for girls in grades 3 – 6
* St. Nicholas Choir for boys in grades 3 – 6

A modified version of the Royal School of Church Music is used, and the children’s choirs learn Anglican chant, musical concepts and skills, memorization of portions of the Eucharistic rite, i.e., the Creed, the Confession of Sin, the Lord’s Prayer, as well as deaf signing, units on the Hymnal 1982, and Christian symbolism.

MUSIC IN LITURGY

Hymns and anthems for corporate worship are chosen by the clergy and the organist to coordinate with the lectionary, and organ voluntaries are chosen to provide appropriate atmosphere for liturgical worship.
Special instruments are also used on major feasts.
