Christian Formation: YouthJourney to Adulthood is a program of spiritual formation for young people that provides a liturgical frame for their experience in our modern culture; celebrates their individuality and their creative potential; and instructs them in skills needed for successful adult participation in church and society. It follows the imperative of the Baptismal Covenant and leads young people to discover and experience the love of God.
The Rite-13 curriculum is a program of spiritual formation designed to assist young people in grades 6, 7, and 8 as they take the first steps of passage away from their families and into their own lives. It begins with a liturgical celebration of the gift of womanhood and manhood. During the course of study, the group acknowledges the gift of gender, celebrates the amazing creative power and potential of these young people, and creates a safe haven to explore new ideas, new interests, and new abilities. Journey to Adulthood (J2A) for grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 blends action, contemplation in teaching young people faithful living. They learn six basic skills: * Active listening They are recognized as young adults rather than children and are encouraged to take on adult responsibilities in all aspects of parish life and in the community. J2A curriculum balances Bible study, prayer, and both serious and playful activities to nurture the whole person during the passage from childhood to adulthood. |
