Christian Formation: Children
Every Sunday, Christian Formation begins at 9:15 a.m. with worship in the undercroft. The worship liturgy is child-friendly and includes hymns, prayers, praise, and scripture. Children prepare the altar, arrange the flowers, and serve as liturgists and acolytes. Worship lasts about fifteen minutes after which the children break into age-appropriate classes.
The Godly Play curriculum for Christian Formation is used for children in pre-school through fifth grade. The goal of Godly Play is to teach children the art of using religious language – parable, sacred story, silence, and liturgical action – to help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God's presence in their lives. We tell stories, wonder about the stories, and make an art response to the stories.
